clean up clean up everybody clean up..

O-M-G... if I had to hear THAT song everyday during every cleanup I might freak out... so I decided I would choose a song I could stand listening to everyday with every class for every cleanup for the entire school year...

Here is the song I chose for 2013/2014.  This is a live version but, I use the album for my clean up song. The kids did not like the song at first (sorry little ones). After a month of school the kids have come around and they groove when the song plays (score one for helping the youth like some decent music).

Cleaning up time...What else do I need to say??... it is always a hectic time in my room... and I am always searching for a way to organize the kids and myself.

Last year, I decided we needed to have a cleanup song. They kids would have the length of the song to get the room back together. I have the philosophy that art is messy and it's no problem if we make a big mess... but if you make the it you clean it up.

Meet Mr. Owl...

He is magic... he watches to make sure all students are behaving for me. When students are REALLY SUPER DUPER CRAZY well behaved, Mr. Owl will fly down and give them a treat. Yes, I said fly!!!

Mr. Owl flies on his own and no one can tell him what to do (not even me!!). He also does not like to be talked about. (The kids K-5 still ask if Mr. Owl is going to fly down today.)

He moves around the room to keep the kids on their toes...

When Mr. Owl decides to come down the kids are so very proud of themselves and get a lollipop treat!!

This images was taken with a pinhole camera I made in collage. The exposure for this image was 2 hours. (That is why tables and chairs are ghostly!)
